Aircraft maintenance (MRO)
Filipino aircraft maintenance technicians for MRO and suppliers
The Philippines is a regional hub for aircraft maintenance, with MRO companies working for international airlines. Many technicians have experience under CAAP or FAA regimes. SkillShift recruits aircraft maintenance technicians and composite and component fitters for maintenance companies and aviation suppliers in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Why the Philippines for this sector?
Regional MRO hub
MRO companies in the Philippines maintain aircraft for airlines from across the region. This produces technicians with experience on a wide range of types and components.
CAAP and FAA experience
Many technicians have worked under the regime of the Philippine civil aviation authority (CAAP) or under FAA rules, with the associated licensing and documentation requirements.
Used to documented work
Task cards, sign-offs and full traceability of parts and actions are the normal way of working for these candidates.
English as the working language
Maintenance documentation, manuals and communication in the Philippine aviation sector are in English, as they are in European MRO environments.

Training and certification
Candidates generally hold a qualification in aircraft maintenance technology, complemented by hands-on experience at an MRO company or airline under a CAAP or FAA regime. EASA Part-66 has its own requirements; a CAAP or FAA licence is not automatically recognised. SkillShift assesses per candidate which types, components and tasks they have actually worked on.

Housing
Aircraft maintenance companies and suppliers are often located at or near airports and industrial estates. For housing, we look at the distance to the hangar or work location and the expected duration of the assignment. For staffing or secondment placements through SkillShift, housing is arranged as standard; for direct hires, this is an additional service.
Hands-on selection
Technical screening before you speak to anyone
SkillShift screens technical candidates in the Philippines on actual hands-on experience: which systems, which processes, which certificates, and how recent. Where useful we arrange a practical test, for example at specialised welding test centres. You receive a short, substantiated shortlist, not a pile of CVs.

Netherlands and Belgium
Working in the Netherlands or Belgium
The available route depends on the country, the role and the applicable permit framework. SkillShift assesses each vacancy individually.
Netherlands
Which work permit applies depends on the role, the level of education and the employment conditions. SkillShift assesses per vacancy which route is feasible and which role is possible without an EASA licence, and guides the application.
Belgium
For aircraft maintenance in Belgium, the applicable permit route and licensing requirements are assessed per vacancy. SkillShift assesses this before recruitment starts.
Frequently asked questions
Is a CAAP or FAA licence valid in Europe?
No, not automatically. EASA Part-66 has its own requirements for certifying staff. The employer determines which role is possible without an EASA licence, for example as a technician under supervision.
Which route applies to these roles?
That depends on the role, the level of education and the employment conditions. SkillShift assesses per vacancy which work permit fits and works with you on a suitable solution.
We are a staffing or secondment provider. Can SkillShift support us too?
Yes, in most cases we can. A staffing or secondment structure is usually more complex than direct employment because the employment relationship, client agreements, immigration route and Philippine DMW documentation and pre-departure requirements must fit together correctly. SkillShift assesses the proposed structure in advance and can help set up and coordinate the process where it is legally and practically feasible.
