Electronics & semiconductor
Filipino technicians for electronics and semiconductor
The Philippines is among the largest countries in the world in semiconductor assembly, test and packaging. International chip manufacturers have been producing there for decades, and Philippine universities graduate a large group of electronics engineers and technicians every year. SkillShift recruits equipment technicians, test engineers and process technicians for the high-tech manufacturing industry and its suppliers in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Why the Philippines for this sector?
Established semiconductor industry
Chip assembly, test and packaging have taken place at scale in the Philippines for decades. This has produced a broad group of technicians used to production equipment, yield targets and strict process discipline.
Licensed electronics engineers
The Philippines has a legally protected title for electronics engineers with a national licensure examination. Many candidates combine that foundation with hands-on experience on the production floor.
Cleanroom and SPC experience
Working in cleanrooms, with ESD controls and with statistical process control (SPC) is daily practice for many candidates.
English-language technical workplace
Work instructions, procedures and documentation in the Philippine electronics industry are in English as standard, as they are in high-tech manufacturing in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Job profiles

Training and certification
Candidates generally hold a degree or diploma in electronics, electrical engineering or mechatronics, often complemented by in-house training at an electronics or semiconductor manufacturer. Some hold the Philippine electronics engineer licence. Foreign diplomas and licences do not automatically replace client-specific requirements; SkillShift assesses per candidate which equipment and processes they have actually worked with.

Which parts SkillShift carries out depends on the agreed scope of service.

Housing
High-tech suppliers are concentrated in regions where housing is scarce. We therefore look at availability, distance to the work location and the expected duration of the assignment early in the process. For staffing or secondment placements through SkillShift, housing is arranged as standard; for direct hires, this is an additional service.
Hands-on selection
Technical screening before you speak to anyone
SkillShift screens technical candidates in the Philippines on actual hands-on experience: which systems, which processes, which certificates, and how recent. Where useful we arrange a practical test, for example at specialised welding test centres. You receive a short, substantiated shortlist, not a pile of CVs.

Netherlands and Belgium
Working in the Netherlands or Belgium
The available route depends on the country, the role and the applicable permit framework. SkillShift assesses each vacancy individually.
Netherlands
Which work permit applies depends on the role, the level of education and the employment conditions, for example a single permit (GVVA) or the highly skilled migrant scheme. SkillShift assesses per vacancy which route is feasible and guides the application.
Belgium
For technical roles in Belgium, the applicable permit route is assessed per vacancy. SkillShift assesses this before recruitment starts.
Frequently asked questions
Do candidates have experience with European equipment?
This varies. Many candidates have worked with equipment from international manufacturers, but not necessarily with the platforms you use. SkillShift assesses per candidate which equipment they have actually worked with and how recently.
Which route applies to these roles?
That depends on the role, the level of education and the employment conditions. SkillShift assesses per vacancy which work permit fits and works with you on a suitable solution.
Can we see sample profiles first?
Yes. After an intake we share anonymised profiles, so you get a sense of the available level before recruitment starts.
We are a staffing or secondment provider. Can SkillShift support us too?
Yes, in most cases we can. A staffing or secondment structure is usually more complex than direct employment because the employment relationship, client agreements, immigration route and Philippine DMW documentation and pre-departure requirements must fit together correctly. SkillShift assesses the proposed structure in advance and can help set up and coordinate the process where it is legally and practically feasible.
